Zimbabwe's Inflation Levels Fall Marginally

Zimbabwe’s yearly and monthly rates of inflation have marginally declined, the latest data from the Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency (ZIMSTAT) showed.

According to Zimstat, the month-on-month inflation rate for January 2022 fell to 5.34% after shedding 0.42% in December.

The year-on-year inflation for January 2022 also retreated from 60.74% last December to 60.61%. Zimstat said:

The month-on-month inflation rate in January 2022 was 5.34 per cent shedding 0.42 percentage points on the December 2021 rate of 5.76 per cent.

The year-on-year inflation rate (annual percentage change) for the month of January 2022 as measured by the all-items Consumer Price Index (CPI) stood at 60.61 per cent.

The CPI for the month ending January 2022 stood at 4,189.97 compared to 3,977.46 in December 2021 and 2,608.79 in January 2021.

The month-on-month inflation rate in January 2022 was 2.73 per cent gaining 0.67 percentage points on the December 2021 rate of 2.06 per cent.

The year-on-year inflation rate (annual percentage change) for the month of January 2022 as measured by the all items blended Consumer Price Index (CPI) stood at 24.88 per cent.

The blended CPI for the month ending January 2022 stood at 138.02 compared to 134.35 in December 2021 and 110.52 in January 2021.

The Food Poverty Line #FPL for one person in January 2022 was $6,153.00

The Total Consumption Poverty Line #TCPL for one person stood at $8,496.00 in January 2022.
