Zimbabwe Weather Report & Forecast: 24 To 26 July 2022

The weather report and forecast issued by the Meteorological Services Department in conjunction with the Department of Civil Protection.

ZIMBABWE EVENING WEATHER REPORT AND FORECAST ISSUED AT 1600 HRS ON SUNDAY 24 JULY 2022 VALID UNTIL TUESDAY 26 JULY 2022.

PREAMBLE

It was cloudy and cool this morning over the northern parts of the country, namely Matabeleland North, northern parts of the Midlands (Gokwe North) and Mashonaland West into Mashonaland Central.

All other areas had mostly clear skies and cold early morning conditions with a moderate ground frost in areas such as Matopos and Kezi, while Nyanga, Masvingo, Henderson and Gweru had slight ground frost.

However, by this evening winds were beginning to strengthen over the south-eastern parts of the country.

FORECASTS FOR TOMORROW, MONDAY 25 JULY 2022

It should be windy and cool over Matabeleland South, Masvingo and Manicaland Provinces with cloudy conditions progressively drifting into Beitbridge, Chiredzi, Mwenezi, Chipinge, Gwanda, Mberengwa, Zaka, Bikita and Masvingo districts. Light drizzle is probable in places.

All other areas are anticipated to be mostly sunny and mild by day, though cold both morning and evening with a ground frost in areas such as Kezi, Matopos, Gweru, Henderson, Nyanga and Mukandi.

IMPACTS

  • Cold conditions may affect the body’s health, with common colds, influenza, and fever, as well as asthma, being common.
  • Poultry producers should note that broilers are sensitive to temperature variations
  • Low-level cloud/Fog may occur in parts of the Eastern Highlands and this tends to reduce visibility
  • Drizzle may affect your outdoor activities, please plan with the weather in mind.

ACTIONS TO TAKE

  • Dress appropriately to keep warm especially overnight, and ensure vulnerable members of society are warm as well.
  • When braziers are in use, please ensure the room is well ventilated.
  • Poultry producers should check temperature levels regularly and adjustments made to reduce bird mortality and increase productivity.
  • Field crops that may be affected by rain need to be stored in a dry place.
  • Drive cautiously, especially when visibility has been diminished by fog or cloud-induced darkness.

  • Great Zimbabwe: Windy, cool and progressively cloudy (Temperatures – 07/21)
  • Nyanga: Windy, cool and progressively cloudy (Temperatures – 02/18)
  • Vumba: Windy, cool and progressively cloudy (Temperatures – 09/23)
  • Matopos: Clear skies at first and cloudy (Temperatures – 04/23)
  • Chimanimani: Mostly cloudy, wind and cool (Temperatures – 11/20)

OUTLOOK: WEATHER FORECAST FOR TUESDAY 26 JULY 2022

Windy, cold and cloudy morning conditions are anticipated in Manicaland and parts of Masvingo, with light drizzle in places.

It should become less cloudy and warmer as the day progresses. All other areas are expected to be mostly sunny and mild by day becoming cold towards evening.
