Zimbabwe Weather Report & Forecast: 21 To 23 July 2022

The weather report and forecast issued by the Meteorological Services Department in conjunction with the Department of Civil Protection.

ZIMBABWE EVENING WEATHER REPORT AND FORECAST ISSUED AT 1600 HRS ON THURSDAY 21 JULY 2022 VALID UNTIL SATURDAY 23 JULY 2022.

PREAMBLE

Cloudy and cold conditions were affecting the country yesterday into this morning. Light rain occurred at Kezi, Makoholi, Masvingo, Zaka, Marondera and Nyanga. Meanwhile, relatively moist southeast airflow should strengthen over the southern areas of Zimbabwe.

FORECAST FOR TOMORROW, FRIDAY 22 JULY 2022

It should be cloudy, cold and breezy with light rain and drizzle in Bulawayo Metropolitan, Matabeleland South, and southern districts of Midlands, Masvingo and Manicaland Provinces.

Brief cloudy and mild conditions are expected in Matabeleland North and northern parts of Midlands.

The remainder of the country (Harare Metropolitan Province and all Mashonaland Provinces) should experience some cloudy and cold morning conditions with isolated showers expected in the afternoon.

Mild weather is anticipated in the afternoon though cold again in the evening.

IMPACTS

  • Temperature fluctuations may affect the body’s health, with common colds, influenza, and fever, as well as asthma, being common.
  • Poultry producers should note that broilers are sensitive to temperature variations
  • The Eastern Highlands may experience fog in some parts. This tends to reduce visibility, more so when a car is on full beam.

ACTIONS TO TAKE

  • Light rain and drizzle may affect some produce that has been harvested. Ensure such crops are protected.
  • Dress appropriately to keep warm especially overnight, and ensure vulnerable members of society are warm as well. When braziers are in use, please ensure the room is well ventilated.
  • Poultry producers should check temperature levels regularly and adjustments made to reduce bird mortality and increase productivity.
  • Drive cautiously, especially when visibility has been diminished by fog or cloud-induced darkness.
  • Do not use full beam as this reduces visibility further due to refraction of light by fog particles.
