The Meteorological Services Department of Zimbabwe has released a weather report and forecast for the period 30 May – 01 June 2022. Pindula News presents the report and forecast below:
PREAMBLE
ZIMBABWE EVENING WEATHER REPORT AND FORECAST ISSUED AT 1600 HRS ON MONDAY 30 MAY 2022 VALID UNTIL WEDNESDAY 01 JUNE 2022.
There was ground frost in Nyanga, Matopos, Gweru, Kadoma, Henderson and Marondera with clear skies and cold morning conditions in most areas. It was mild by the afternoon and became windy and cold in the evening as clouds drifted into the country through Beitbridge, Chiredzi and Chipinge Districts. This is anticipated to culminate in overnight rain showers that may be thundery in provinces such as Masvingo, Manicaland and Matabeleland South into the southern parts of the Midlands tonight.
FORECAST
On TUESDAY MORNING, 31 MAY 2022, it is forecast to be mostly cloudy, windy and cold in Matabeleland South, Masvingo and Manicaland Provinces with light drizzle in places; becoming less cloudy but cool as the day progresses. Scattered clouds are anticipated in Bulawayo and Harare Metropolitan, southern parts of Midlands as well as Mashonaland East with mild daytime conditions which will tend towards cold overnight. Matabeleland North, northern districts of Midlands, Mashonaland West and Central should be mostly sunny and warm by day, becoming cool towards evening.
ACTIONS TO TAKE
• Cold conditions, coupled with the wind factor may affect the body’s health, with common colds, influenza and fever, as well as asthma, being common.
• Rain and drizzle may affect outdoor activities.
• Ground frost may affect some crops and even poultry, especially in Henderson. • Outdoor activities should be planned with the weather in mind.
• Poultry producers should note that broilers are sensitive to temperature variations and therefore need to be checked regularly and adjustments made.
• Keeping warm is important for everyone to avoid catching a cold. For expert advice on preventative and redemptive measures for colds and flu, please consult your local health practitioner
• Ensure the young and the elderly are adequately dressed.
• Some may opt to use braziers to keep warm; however, this should be done in well-ventilated areas/rooms as it leads to carbon monoxide poisoning.
