A weak cloud mass which drifted into the northern areas from Zambia overnight into this morning suppressed ground frost in most areas. However. the clear skies which were predominant countrywide yesterday resulted in slight ground frost at Nyanga, Kee, West Nicholson and Matopos. Meanwhile dry south-easterly airflow should affect the country this afternoon into tomorrow morning.
FORECAST FOR TOMORROW, THURSDAY 16 JUNE 2022:
Clear skies are expected countrywide with very cold morning conditions. BLACK FROST is expected in Matabeleland South (Kezi, Matopos and West Nicholson). Slight to moderate frost is still highly probable in the remainder of the country.

• Nights, when the sky is clear, are actually much colder than those where cloudy conditions persist. • Ground frost may negatively affect both plants and livestock.
• FARMERS ALERT: BLACK FROST ALERT for THURSDAY MORNING 16 JUNE lin Matabeleland South and surrounding areas], this type of frost may not be visible on the ground but will turn fruits/vegetables with high water content (e.g. tomatoes and grapes) black from the inside due to intra-cellular frost formation (freezing from within the fruit or vegetable).
ACTIONS TO TAKE

• Poultry producers should note that broilers are sensitive to temperature variations and therefore need to be checked regularly and adjustments made.
