PREAMBLE: ZIMBABWE EVENING WEATHER REPORT AND FORECAST ISSUED AT 1600 HRS ON MONDAY 14 FEBRUARY 2022 VALID UNTIL WEDNESDAY 16 FEBRUARY 2022.

Mostly sunny and warm conditions were experienced across much of the country yesterday. This morning it was brief cloudy and mild over the northern parts of Mashonaland West and Central Provinces.

FORECAST FOR TOMORROW TUESDAY 15 FEBRUARY 2022

It should be mostly cloudy and warm with isolated thunderstorms over parts of Mashonaland West and Central Provinces. Localised heavier downpours are probable. Cloudy and windy conditions with patchy rain and drizzle conditions are anticipated in Matabeleland South, Masvingo and Manicaland Provinces. The rest of the country should be mostly sunny and warm with a chance of an odd shower in places.

• Lightning may still strike from a distant cloud, even when the sky overhead is clear.

• Localized heavy rains remain a potential, these may result in flash flooding in areas with poor drainage or impervious surfaces.

• Some local dams have filled, any excess rainwater may lead to over-spilling, and downstream flooding.

ACTIONS TO TAKE

• When thunder roars, it is best to be indoors. If outdoors please find shelter immediately; do not shelter under trees or in an isolated shed.

• Do not cross flooded rivers and swollen streams whether on foot or in a vehicle as just 30cm of flowing water is enough to sweep away a vehicle.

• Avoid driving on a road covered by water especially at night or during downpours when it is more difficult to recognize flood dangers.

It should be cloudy and windy with slight rain and drizzle in areas such as Matabeleland South, Masvingo and parts of Midlands Provinces. Sunny and warm conditions are anticipated over the rest of the country with a chance of an odd shower.
