Zimbabwe COVID / Coronavirus Update 16 March 2022: Over 50 Cases Recorded In Schools

Zimbabwe first recorded Coronavirus cases in March 2020. Since then, many people have contracted the virus. Many recovered, but some succumbed to the novel virus. Pindula News presents the Coronavirus/ COVID-19 Situation Report or Update for Zimbabwe prepared by the Ministry of Health and Child Care (MoHCC) on 16 March 2022:

• 285 New Cases (All local) and 1 Death reported today. (7-day rolling overage’ for new cases falls to 372 from 432 (yesterday) 58 of the new cases reported today are from outbreaks detected from schools in Mash East (48), Mash Cent (5), Bulawayo (3), Masvingo (1), and Mash West. (1).

• Vaccination Update: 5 210 received the 1st dose today bringing cumulative for 1st dose to 4 406 660, 4 134 received their 2nd dose bringing cumulative for 2nd dose to 3 435 409 while 4 401 received their 3rd dose bringing cumulative for 3rd dose to 165 108.

• As of 15 March 2022, @1500hrs there were (62) hospitalized cases: New Admissions (10), Asymptomatic (6), mild to moderate (50), severe (6) and (0) in Intensive Care Units. 20 of the 62 hospitalized were vaccinated and 42 were not vaccinated.

• 2 463 tests done today (Positivity today was 12.1%)
