Opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) councillor, Amos Chibaya has claimed that he was informed by some legislators from the ruling ZANU PF that they have grown weary of their own party and now want it out.
Chibaya was speaking at the CCC’s thank you rally in Gweru, following victory in the 26 March 2022 by-elections. He said:
ZANU PF MPs have been telling us that they are tired of their own party, they no longer want it. No one wants ZANU PF anymore and this like I am telling you includes their own MPs, everyone is now fed up with ZANU PF.
Even members of the security sector are tired of Zanu PF. They want the party out.
Our biggest vote is going to come from the rural areas. Those people are tired of Zanu PF.
Political analysts say it is crucial for the opposition to win the rural vote for it to dislodge ZANU PF from power.
The opposition CCC claims it is fast penetrating the rural areas, previously regarded as ZANU PF strongholds, attributing the development to disgruntlement over the deteriorating state of affairs.
CCC blames ZANU PF for the deterioration of the economy which has worsened the plight of citizens.
This is happening shortly before the 2023 polls.
