In a weather report and forecast seen by Pindula News, MSD said localized heavy downpours remain a possibility in western parts of the country. Reads a report and forecast for the period 11 to 13 November 2022: *PREAMBLE* *ZIMBABWE EVENING WEATHER REPORT AND FORECAST ISSUED AT 1600 HRS ON FRIDAY DAY 11 NOVEMBER 2022 VALID UNTIL SUNDAY 13 NOVEMBER 2022.* > Wide-spread thunderstorms occurred yesterday throughout the country due to the prevailing warm and humid atmospheric conditions over the country. Some of the significant rainfall amounts above 20mm were recorded in areas such as Kezi (47mm), Mukandi (43mm), Chivhu (42mm), Kutsaga (30mm), and Guruve (28mm). It was cloudy and mild in the morning in the southern districts with a south-easterly airflow and became warm by afternoon. Meanwhile, another cloud band is approaching from Botswana. *FORECAST FOR TOMORROW, SATURDAY 12 NOVEMBER 2022* > The expected cloud band should result in thunderstorm activities mainly in the Western parts of the country which include Matabeleland North, Matabeleland South and Bulawayo Metropolitan Province. The rest of the country should be partly cloudy and warm with a probability of isolated afternoon thunderstorms *IMPACTS* > • Lightning strikes are a major risk during this period; all areas have a potential risk for lightning strikes. > • Lightning can strike even when clouds are distant, this is a scientific phenomenon called lightning from the blue. > • The atmosphere is conducive to localized hailstorms and strong winds. *ACTIONS TO TAKE* > • If caught in the open, please avoid sheltering under isolated trees or in isolated sheds as these tend to be natural lightning conductors. > • When a thunderstorm threatens, get inside a home or large building, > • Even when lightning is seen in a distance, it might not be safe to be outdoors. The rough rule of noting the safe zone when you see lightning is the 30-30 Rule: If you see lightning and cannot count up to 30 seconds before you hear thunder, then you are not safe from the next lightning strike. > • Where possible, install lightning conductors on buildings. *WEATHER OUTLOOK FOR SUNDAY 13 NOVEMBER 2022* > It should be cloudy and warm throughout the country, with scattered thundershowers in some places. Localized heavy downpours remain probable in the areas along the western parts of the country. Mild morning and evening conditions are anticipated. *More Pindula News* _If you found this article useful_ *Please support Pindula by forwarding to friends and groups*
