Senator Mutsvangwa said Mudehwe should be emulated for his leadership qualities which saw him ensure quality service delivery in Mutare. She told ZBC News: > Cde Mudewe was full of love, patriotic and a humble leader. His great works as an executive mayor for Mutare was there for all to see. The town was clean and he was not corrupt. The deterioration of services under the leadership of opposition political parties is in sharp contrast with the quality of services that was provided under his reign. We should continue emulation his great works as they promote national development. Mudehwe was born on 26 July 1933 in Mutasa District. He trained as a teacher at St Augustine’s between 1953 and 1954 and later became a headmaster before being appointed Sakubva’s first Librarian and rose to the position of Sakubva Superintended. He served as ceremonial mayor before being appointed the first executive mayor of Mutare for two terms from 1995 to 2003.
