Reads the statement: > The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms the arrest of Emanuel Mahembe (37) in connection with two cases of murder and theft of motor vehicles involving two businesswomen in Shurugwi. > In the first murder incident, the suspect who was in love with the victim, Idah Chigumbate (37) allegedly killed her at Todal Turn off, Shurugwi on 21st May 2022 and dumped the remains in Mutevekwi River before getting away with the victim’s cellphone, identity particulars and a Honda fit vehicle. > After the callous act, the suspect then sent text messages on different occasions to the victim’s son while posing as the victim, requesting various amounts of cash using the stolen cellphone. > However, the suspect could not answer voice calls which prompted the son to make a missing person report at ZRP Dhonga. > A trap was set leading to the arrest of the suspect and the recovery of the Honda Fit vehicle, cellphone and the identification particulars. > Further investigations by the Police revealed that the suspect once dated another businesswoman, Patricia Mutero (35) whom he killed in similar circumstances and buried the body in a shallow grave along the river banks of Gwamvurachena River, Makotore Village in 2021, before stealing a Honda Fit vehicle and the victim’s passport. > He later swapped the vehicle with a Toyota Fun Cargo vehicle with a yet-to-be-identified person. > The Police exhumed the victims’ bodies and were referred to Shurugwi District Hospital for postmortem. > The Zimbabwe Republic Police is conducting comprehensive investigations to establish whether the suspect committed other similar cases. > Meanwhile, the Police urge the public to verify the backgrounds of potential partners before committing themselves to relationships. _If you found this article useful_ *Please support Pindula by forwarding to friends and groups*
