Addressing a press conference in Harare on Thursday, Chiyangwa said he was impressed by the efforts of the acting ZIFA president, Gift Banda. He said: > As you know, my last office was COSAFA in South Africa; it’s a regional body as you know. > A few weeks ago, I stepped down, this is due to many other commitments I have here. > But I can say his (Banda) foresight is good together with board members Farai Jere here and Alois Masepe. > Turning to the issue of the ban, that’s what I want to work with them (ZIFA) and Government, and ensure that the ban is lifted and football is played and we are all enjoying it. Zimbabwe is currently under suspension from FIFA after the Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) suspended the Felton Kamambo-led ZIFA board in November 2021. FIFA said the suspension of Kamambo and other ZIFA board members amounted to Government interference, which is in violation of the world football governing body’s statutes. In April, the ZIFA Assembly held an extraordinary general meeting and fired Kamambo, Philemon Machana and Brighton Malandule. Since then, ZIFA has been frantically trying to have the FIFA suspension lifted. *More: The Sunday Mail* _If you found this article useful_ *Please support Pindula by forwarding to friends and groups*
