Slight ground frost is expected in frost-prone areas (Gweru, Henderson, Nyanga, Kezi and Matopos). On Thursday, there was slight ground frost at West Nicholson, Henderson, Marondera and Nyanga and it was severe at Kezi and Matopos with clear skies and cold morning conditions over much of the country. MSD said wintry conditions both day and night may affect the body’s health, with common colds, influenza and fever, as well as asthma, being prevalent. Members of the public are advised to dress appropriately to keep warm especially overnight and ensure vulnerable members of society are warm as well. The Met Department also reminded poultry producers that broilers are sensitive to temperature variations and therefore need to be checked regularly and adjustments made. Farmers in areas prone to ground frost should undertake frost prevention measures such as overhead irrigation of crops usually at night /early in the morning. On Saturday, 18 June 2022, mostly clear skies are expected countrywide. It should be cold in the morning, becoming mild by the afternoon.
