*"Peter Ndlovu-led" APP Confident Of Victory In 2023 Elections*

The newly formed opposition party, All People’s Party (APP), which named soccer legend Peter Ndlovu as its president, says it is not a ZANU PF project but is real and will contest the 2023 general elections.

Speaking in an interview with NewsDay, APP vice president Sabastian Mubvumbi said the party’s objective is to rebuild Zimbabwe following years of plunder by a “kleptocratic government”.

Mubvumbi stated that APP is an all-encompassing party that is inclusive and does not discriminate on gender, race, tribe, religious preferences or sexual orientation.

He said Ndlovu, who has hitherto remained mum about his presidential aspirations, will come out at the appropriate time. Said Mubvumbi:

_We have to appreciate the unique times we are in due to the COVID-19 pandemic as this has hampered any plans we may have had to hit the ground running as envisaged. We are interested in solidifying our grassroots structures._

_A response from the president (Ndlovu) will come at a time deemed appropriate as he is currently inundated with other commitments._

_Rest assured that he is abreast with all that is taking place within the party structures and is willing to be a torchbearer of a change for the better._

Mubvumbi expressed confidence that APP will emerge from the 2023 general elections as the dominant political force in Zimbabwe. He said:

_We are romping to victory because we are a people’s party. Our target is three million votes for Peter Ndlovu._

_That will take him to State House. On Members of Parliament, we will have two-thirds, the other political parties will share the remaining third. Council seats will be a walkover._

_Our candidates will be people of good standing, honesty and not in it for enrichment, but serving the people._

_The 2023 elections will usher in a new administration. The people are going to vote in large numbers._

_Rigging is impossible or embarrassingly obvious where large numbers of voters are involved._

Mubvumbi said APP was formed in 2019 and unanimously chose Peter Ndlovu to lead the party.

The party was registered with the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) the same year on October 31, 2019.

He said they have deferred the launch of the party due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
