Zimbabwe’s COVID-19 cases have been surging in the past week with 596 new cases and 26 deaths recorded in the last seven days. From the 5th to the 11th of June 2021, an average of 78 cases was reported per day compared to an average of 36 cases per day in the previous week. This prompted the Minister of Health and Child Care, Vice President Constantino Chiwenga to announce a soft lockdown that commences on Monday, 14 June 2021. The new measures include the banning of all gatherings which include weddings, church, music festivals and sporting activities. Funerals are now limited to thirty people. *More: ZBC News* _If you found this article useful_ *Please support Pindula by forwarding to friends and groups*
