Said Magunje: _I received the news of the attack on councillor Mudyavanhu this morning (Thursday), but l am yet to get full details of what actually happened._ An MDC Alliance councillor who preferred anonymity told the publication that Mudyavanhu was attacked about 100 metres from his home. The councillor is quoted as saying: _At around 9 pm, Mudyavanhu escorted his younger brother who had visited his family in Mzari low-density suburb. As he walked back, about 100 metres from his home, three unidentified men pounced._ _One of them struck him on the head with a machete and he fell to the ground. The other two attackers joined and continued bashing him._ _The assailants only fled after being flashed by the lights of an approaching car._ NewZimbabwe.com reported sources as saying the attack could be politically motivated as the councillor had earlier received threats on his life from an unnamed individual over an undisclosed matter. Mudyavanhu is serving his first term as a councillor after dislodging former Chinhoyi deputy mayor Derrick Matapure (ZANU PF) in the 2018 harmonised elections. The councillor is reported to be recovering from his home. *More: NewZimbabwe.com* *Featured Products* *Follow our Pindula Channel on:* https://whatsapp.com/channel/0029Va84dngJP21B2nWeyM3v
