*28 ZAPU Members Defect To Zanu PF  - Report*

28 ZAPU members reportedly joined Zanu PF and the ruling party has reportedly admitted the group and said it was a clear sign that Zanu PF is a people-centred party, ZBC News reports.

The latest defections were revealed by Zanu PF Secretary for Information and Publicity,  Simon khaya Moyo, who at a Gwanda Provincial Coordinating Committee (PCC) meeting when he said Joshua Nkomo told them to remain in Zanu PF nomatter what:

_Zanu PF came as a result of Zanu pf and pf Zapu , and the late vice president had said we should remain in Zanu pf no matter what . It is unfortunate that some decided to leave the party , but that is water under the bridge now. As Zanu pf we want everyone to come back because we are a people ‘s party._

Zanu PF Provincial Chairperson, Cde Rabelani Choene also addressed the same meeting and told them they should contribute meaningfully to the party’s 2023 agenda:

_As you are all aware the goal is to get to five million votes in the next elections, so as Matabeleland south we should be seen contributing meaningfully to achieving that goal._

Meanwhile, former MDC T Vice president Obert Gutu also joined Zanu PF this week and he said he wanted to be part of President Mnangagwa’s vision 2030.  ZAPU is yet to comment on the defections.
