The matter was reported last week but the problem is yet to be solved. > > The report comes after Harare City Council has blamed intermittent garbage collection on the scarcity of fuel for its trucks. The local government authority has for decades been accused of poor service delivery with residents saying the city fathers are failing to provide necessities such as lighting, roads, potable water, garbage collection and sewer reticulation. City fathers, on the other hand, attribute poor service delivery to the government and ratepayers’ failure or neglection to pay the money to the council. Some analysts, however, say the major challenge in many local government authorities is that of poor revenue mobilisation and management strategies which inevitably result in failure to provide required public goods and services.
