A 19-year-old Harare model was raped on Thursday after she was lured to a private location by a man she had befriended on Facebook.

According to a Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) statement, the young woman who resides in Waterfalls was invited for modelling auditions by the unnamed man.

When the woman went to the rendezvous for the purported auditions, she was raped by her Facebook friend. The man was arrested and is yet to appear in court to face rape charges. Police said in the statement:

_Members of the public are warned against trusting people they meet online. This warning follows the rape of a 19-year-old woman in Waterfalls on 17/9/20 after she was purportedly invited for modelling auditions by a man she befriended on Facebook._

_The man has since been arrested and will appear in court soon._

In another development, police are investigating the murder of a 7-year-old boy in Murewa.

Police suspect that the boy was murdered for ritual purposes as his body was found without the head, arms and legs.

The boy went missing on Thursday after his mother had sent him to the garden and his body was discovered yesterday, with dogs feasting on the corpse. Police said in a statement:

_Police in Murewa are looking for perpetrators behind the gruesome murder of a 7-year-old boy who went missing on 17/9/20 after he had been sent to the garden by his mother._

_The body of the boy was later discovered on 18/9/20 being eaten by dogs with the head, arms and legs chopped off for suspected ritual purposes._
