*Why Are You Not Celebrating Electricity Availability - Guvamatanga* *Follow Pindula on WhatsApp for daily new updates* https://whatsapp.com/channel/0029Va84dngJP21B2nWeyM3v?lw While in an interview with ZBC, Finance Ministry Secretary Geroge Guvamatanga asked the citizenry why they were not celebrating the availability of electricity after making so much noise about its shortage last year. This was revealed by the publisher itself in a tweet that reads: ---------- *HOT DEALS:* *itel A70 - (128GB, 3GB RAM) $89,* *itel A70 - (256GB, 4GB RAM) $99* *itel P40 (128GB, 4GB), (6000mAh) $99* *itel P40 (64GB, 4G), (6000mAh) $93* Cash on Delivery in Harare & Bulawayo. When it was not there everyone was jumping up and down. Now it’s there you don’t jump up and down. I thought you would jump up and down celebrating that we now have electricity. The Broadcaster did not share the context of the interview in full but Guvamatanga was referring to service delivery from the government when he spoke about electricity availability. Guvamatanga’s remarks did not go down well with Twimbos(Zimbabweans on Twitter) who were quick to point out that it was their job to make sure utilities were available: > ZandaToto > This @GGuvamatangaguy thinks serving the people is doing them a favor. Why should citizens celebrate that there’s uninterrupted power supply? What kind of thinking is this? > Walter Muzembi > How do you celebrate a basic right ? Electricity is not a priviledge but a basic need like water , nutrition , shelter , health, literacy , shelter etc , any responsible gvt must at the very minimum guarantee these , so no need to ululate for that!!! > Nicolate Gwati > There is nothing to jump up and down about considering that we had decades when electricity was a given all the time. We have seen better so there’s no need to celebrate mediocrity > ZCTU Zimbabwe > He is now worse than the politicians we thought he was supposed to advise and change as a purported technocrat. With such mentality at the Treasury we are not going anywhere. Celebrating for getting water, electrity etc in this age? He must be drunk > Maxwell Haurovi > Why should we jump up and down for an invention of the 2nd industrial (19th century) revolution. It must be a shame that basic infrastructure has remained a dream so far for many of us in Zimbabwe. Some are talking of high-speed internet, we are stuck on electricity.
