Political analyst, Rashweat Mukundu has said the Secretary for Policy and Research in the MDC Alliance, Dr Tapiwa Mashakada is right that former student leaders are taking control of the party adding that it is an inevitable and necessary development.

Mashakada had claimed that some party members were against the development which has seen mostly former members of the Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Union being sidelined.

Commenting on Mashakada’s claims, Mukundu said:

_@DrTapiwa (Mashakada) maybe wrong on as many things but in his attempt to locate opposition politics he got 1 thing right. That the opposition is being taken over by what he calls Zinasu, meaning youth. It’s inevitable& what the future is. Your aspirations Hon&those of youths are diametric._

_The youths are not only the majority but the most affected by the Zim crisis on as many fronts be it unemployment, lack of access to education, health, housing. The Labour movement did its part in joining the youth In galvanizing opposition against @ZANUPF_Official but the socio-economic reality now speaks to a new dynamic. That of youth dominated politics which @DrTapiwa could be angry with but an idea whose time has come._

_Instead of resisting meaning falling into the arms of other old madalas in Zanu PF, Hon could have played a midwifery role &allow the new to emerge while the old dies. This is not forsaking history as he alludes, but rather allowing continuity.
