Needless political gatherings are, therefore, contrary to this directive and the nation must stand guided. The Zimbabwe Republic Police had already blocked the demonstration and notified the party through a letter which observed that “gatherings of whatever purpose, are prohibited during this period save for those exempted in the statutory instrument.” Observers had criticised the party’s purported event saying it should be demonstrating against rampant human rights abuses in Zimbabwe.
