Out of its deep concern for human need, the Adventist Church has developed worldwide healthcare to alleviate sickness and suffering. Since health is a basic human need, the church also co-operates with governments in promoting healthful practices and providing health services wherever possible. The Adventist Church has also taken seriously the threat of COVID-19 and has taken measures to create awareness and prevent its spread. > To our concer, it has come to our attention, through social media, that a letter dated 27 March 2020, has purportedly been written by Secretary for Health and Childcare to the City Director of Health asserting that Sakunda Holdings in conjunction with the Seventh-day Adventist Church are requesting the use of Arundel Medical Hospital as an isolation center for COVID-19 patients. Matters concerning the development and running of hospitals are the jurisdiction of Union Conferences of the Seventh-day Adventist Church according to Adventist Church Policy. In this case it would be the Zimbabwe East Union Conference (ZEUC). While this appears to be a worthy cause, the ZEUC has neither collaborated with Sakunda Holdings nor with the Ministry of Health and Childcare in this matter. We have also not received any communication to that effect. > Let us continue to pray for our God’s intervention in this crisis and to play our part in preventing the spread of COVID-19. > Yours in Christ > Zibusiso Ndlovu > Executive Secretary _If you found this article useful_ *Please support Pindula by forwarding to friends and groups*
