The opposition MDC led by Nelson Chamisa has outlined a number of preventive measures Zimbabwe can adopt to enhance its preparedness against the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).

Zimbabwean authorities claim that the country has not registered a single case yet adding that they have intensified efforts to prevent the spread of the virus. We present below the MDC’s full Twitter thread.

> CoronaVirus a global threat, #Zimbabwe must take this opportunity to fine-tune its preparedness, as the people’s party we suggest the following:

> 1. That the Harare administration provides #Accurate and #effective communication with citizens, #educate and prepare them for possible restrictions on gatherings

> 2. That Government engage international players like #WHO and the #CDC for assistance on its shortcomings.

> 3. That government puts together and train an elaborate tracker team and have an elaborate travel policy, with specific restrictions in place

> 4. That government prepares and secures kits for wide testing of #COVID19 including free and voluntary testing as well as ensuring the availability of masks especially in all populated centres

> 5. That Government avails funding to the current centres dealing with the #pandemic and establish proper screening centres at all ports of entry and introduce mandatory screening including the so-called #VIPs
