An international human rights expert, Paula Garivia has warned President Emmerson Mnangagwa that he risked being toppled by the masses if he continued to infringe them of their rights.

The Colombian was in Zimbabwe for a week-long visit and she left Zimbabwe last week. Speaking to New Zimbabwe in an interview, Garivia said:

_Soon or later, change is going to come and society is going to be more aware that it is not right to cause more harm; it is not good to cause suffering to people._

_President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s government needs to realise that soon or later, aggrieved citizens will push for their freedom and change._

Her warning comes when the democratic space in the country is decreasing with the state accused of sponsoring terror on opposition parties, particularly the MDC led by Nelson Chamisa and human rights defenders.

The state last year blocked the number of MDC gatherings arguing that there was a possibility that they were likely to generate into chaos but others believe that it was just a way of clipping the party.

The socio-economic crisis has also left the masses disgruntled as the majority of citizens now live in chronic poverty.
