The Zimbabwe Republic Police has released the names of the Kwekwe accident victims, with the death toll having risen from 7 to 9.

In a statement on Friday, national police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said the deceased’s next of kin had been informed.

The names of the deceased are as follows:

Lovemore Chininga (23), Pauline Nyamadzao (19), Molina Moyo (58), Urgent Zvidza (50), Nothabo Makoni (two-month-old), Maria Nyoni (50) and Nyasha Paso (38).

Ass. Insp Nyathi also revealed that two bodies were yet to be identified and are being held at Kwekwe General Hospital mortuary.

He invited members of the public to approach the institution and assist with the identification.

The accident occurred on Monday this week when a ZUPCO bus was hit by a Honda Fit and ploughed into two kombis that were parked by the roadside.
