Zimbabwean journalist and filmmaker, Hopewell Chin’ono has said that the implementation of reforms was of much vitality to the revival and growth of the economy.

He observed that impediments to growth, including corruption, violence and lack of much-needed competence, were deeply rooted and should never be taken for granted.

Meanwhile, the opposition MDC has vowed not to participate in the 2023 elections if reforms are not implemented. Whilst authorities have often said that reforms are already underway, observers, including USA, UK and Japan are not interested with the pace.

Japan, in particular, said that Zimbabwe’s reform rhetoric lacks concrete results to back it.

President Mnangagwa said that his administration acknowledged the importance of reforms and is implementing them not because someone said so but because they were important for the country.

He added that Zimbabwe will reform at its own pace. Key areas which have been earmarked for reform include the security sector, media, legal and the economic sector.
