*Gwisai: You Can't Continue Talking To People Who Aren't Listening*

Leader of the International Socialist Organisation in Zimbabwe, Munyaradzi Gwisai has urged all Zimbabwean citizens to conduct a national shutdown as a form of resistance against the government’s austerity measures.

Gwisai argued that it is a waste of time to continue talking to the government as it has shown that it is not committed to dialogue. Said Gwisai:

_We now need a united front of all victims of austerity to lead the resistance against austerity and the junta._

_Students, workers, youths, vendors and the villagers … we have to learn the lesson that the late Morgan Tsvangirai, as secretary-general of ZCTU, learnt then that sometimes negotiations yield nothing. You can’t keep talking to people who are not listening._

_There is no bigger army that the power of the workers and villagers._

The country’s economy has continued to deteriorate alarmingly since the November 2017 military coup that toppled longtime ruler Robert Mugabe.
