The scourge of CORRUPTION is rapidly tearing Zimbabwe apart. My heart is sinking. His remarks come when Zimbabwe is now ranked among the countries with the highest corruption levels in the world. When President Emmerson Mnangagwa assumed office over 24 months ago, he pledged to “confront corruption head-on” but others believe he is only paying lip service to the issue as there is no concrete action to support the “rhetoric”. He dissolved the old Zimbabwe Anti Corruption Commission and established a new one which he gave some more powers. The new commission has been criticised for its “catch and release” of corruption suspects. In its defence, the anti-graft body says suspects are released for lack of evidence.
