Apex Council president Mr Cecilia Alexander has dismissed reports on social media purporting that civil servants will get a $500 cushioning allowance, the Chronicle reports.

However, Mrs Alexander in an interview with the Chronicle dispelled the rumours and said:

> We met Government and we presented the plight of civil servants in terms of the festive season and also their monthly salaries and we suggested that we really need a cushioning before Christmas, Government has not yet responded and what is circulating on social media is not true

This comes at a time when the govt had not increased the civil servants’ salaries despite inflation which was forecasted to be above 440% in October 2019
