*"The Security Cluster Must Be Well Funded," Finance Minister Speaks Ahead Of Budget Presentation* *Follow Pindula on WhatsApp for daily new updates* https://whatsapp.com/channel/0029Va84dngJP21B2nWeyM3v?ks Finance minister, Mthuli Ncube, has said that the security sector has to be well funded for it to undertake its operations smoothly and some are of the belief the statement is an indication that the sector shall see the 2020 budget allocating it huge amounts of money. Ncube told the Daily News in an exclusive interview in Harare on Wednesday that the citizens who complain about huge allocations to the sector do not appreciate the importance of peace. He added: > It’s very important that we should make sure that the security cluster is well funded, that soldiers have a decent meal, three meals a day, as well as the police. > Right now police can’t respond to incidents of crime because there are no motorcycles, no vehicles and so forth. They also have no decent place to live. So, think about their accommodation … and the same applies to the military. His remarks come a week before he presents the 2020 national budget which is expected, as previous budgets, to prioritise the security sector ahead of other sectors like health and manufacturing. Some analysts are however of the view that the security sector must not be prioritised considering the peace that the country is enjoying.
