*CIVIL SERVANTS DEMO: "Only 70 People Shall March To Hand Over A Petition" - PTUZ* *Follow Pindula on WhatsApp for daily new updates* https://whatsapp.com/channel/0029Va84dngJP21B2nWeyM3v?er The “Civil Servants” march arranged by the Apex Council shall reportedly see only 70 people marching and presenting a petition to the government. The limited number required as indicated in Apex’s application to police dated 31 October 2019 has resulted in some labour unions including the Progressive Teachers Union of Zimbabwe deciding not to participate in the event. ---------- Latest itel A06 on Pindula: 32GB storage, 4GB RAM $69 USD WhatsApp: +263715068543 Calls: 0772464000 ---------- PTUZ president, Dr Takavafira Zhou, whilst announcing that his union will not be marching today said: > We also differ with the modus operandi of 70 people marching to hand over a petition when there are more than 130 000 teachers and more than 230 000 civil servants in Zimbabwe. > The 70 people is a betrayal of the voices of incapacitated civil servants. We wonder what the other multitude of teachers and other civil servants would be doing if we follow such a constricted modus operandi. Meanwhile, David Dzatsunga, the spokesperson of the Apex Council, the umbrella body for civil servants labour unions, told News Day that Apex Council and ordinary membership will participate in the protest. The demonstration is, as said, meant to register workers’ displeasure with current salaries which they say are unsustainable given the inflationary nature of the economy.
