Various delicious, sweet foods are eaten by the Jewish people throughout the festival. These include apple and honey, a traditional combination that has passed down the generations for centuries, pomegranate, Kiddush wine and honey cake, among others. During Rosh Hashanah, Jewish people will frequently say the Hebrew phrases: “Shana Tova” or “Shana Tova U’Metukah” to one another, meaning: “A good year” or “A good and sweet year.” Meanwhile, President Emmerson Mnangagwa has congratulated the State of Israel on the occasion of Rosh Hashanah. Writing on Twitter, President Mnangagwa said: > Wishing our Jewish friends around the world, a happy new year. I was happy to talk with Israeli Foreign Minister @Israel_katz ahead of my speech to the UNGA. > We are working towards cooperative and friendly relations with all the nations of the world, for the benefit of our people. > Wishing our Jewish friends around the world, a happy new year.
