*"Media Diverting Public Attention From Serious Office Abuse Case" - ZACC On Ex-VP Mphoko* *Follow Pindula on WhatsApp for daily new updates* https://whatsapp.com/channel/0029Va84dngJP21B2nWeyM3v?ag Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission has said that the criminal abuse of office case against the former vice president, Phelekezela Mphoko was a genuine one.. The anti-graft commission said that it has observed that there were some media houses which are trying to divert public attention of the case by insinuating that Mphoko’s arrest was a political gimmick or president Mnangagwa’s way of persecuting political enemies. ---------- *HOT DEALS:* *itel A70 - (128GB, 3GB RAM) $89,* *itel A70 - (256GB, 4GB RAM) $99* *itel P40 (128GB, 4GB), (6000mAh) $99* *itel P40 (64GB, 4G), (6000mAh) $93* Cash on Delivery in Harare & Bulawayo. WhatsApp: 0️⃣7️⃣8️⃣3️⃣ 4️⃣5️⃣0️⃣ 7️⃣9️⃣3️⃣ ---------- ZACC spokesperson, Makamure said: > We look at the story as an attempt by certain sections of the media to divert public attention from a serious case of abuse of office by the former Vice President. This is not a new case, it is a case that happened in 2016 or thereabout, so what ZACC simply did was to finalise that matter. The previous commission was unable to finalise it probably because of their own ineptitude. But the new ZACC simply took over that matter and we are finalising it, so there has been no attempt by anyone to direct us to deal with the matter in a certain way. The matter is now before the courts which the previous commission was unable to do. Makamure’s remarks come as some members of the public have castigated Mphoko’s arrest saying that it was a result of renewed factional fights within the ruling ZANU PF party. They said that Mphoko was linked to the faction belonging to the indisposed Vice President Constantino Chiwenga. They also said that Mnangagwa established the Commission to hoodwink the public into thinking that the government was seriously fighting corruption.
