Zimbabwe intends to use the United Nations, the World Bank, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the African Union Commission co-organised conference to lure Japanese investors to Zimbabwe. The conference which seeks to enhance trade and investment between Africa and Japan will also be attended by almost all African leaders. Japan has been a huge competitor and critic to China which has also been an emerging force on both the geopolitical and geoeconomics arena. China has its own version of the Japanese TICAD which is called the Forum on China Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) which has the same objectives as those of TICAD although they differ in scope.
