She said: > As soon as we get a mandate from the Treasury on the allocation from the supplementary budget, we will convene. > We are most definitely going to have it (the meeting). The government will not revert on its obligation with the cost of living adjustment set to be effective from August 1. > We will not revert from our previous agreement. Apex Council deputy chairperson, David Dzatsunga insisted that the Union expect the government to multiply civil servants’ October 2018 salaries by the current prevailing interbank market rate. Meanwhile, the Zimbabwe Teachers Association (ZIMTA) general secretary, Tapson Sibanda stated that teachers expect to get not less than $4 600. He said: > We now await for another round of talks with the Government to negotiate for August to December cost of living adjustment. > We expect the Government not to award us not less than $4 600 as demanded earlier. In July this year, the government awarded civil servants a once-off $400 cushioning allowance. The offer was initially made to members of the defences forces before the rest of the civil service demanded the same. The Apex Council recently wrote a stinging letter, demanding that the government immediately convene an NJNC meeting on COLA, and failure will result in catastrophic consequences. *More: Sunday News* _If you found this article useful_ *Please support Pindula by forwarding to friends and groups*
