*A Year After Mugabe's Fall, Nothing Has Changed: ZimRights* *Follow Pindula on WhatsApp for daily new updates* https://whatsapp.com/channel/0029Va84dngJP21B2nWeyM3v?wl The Zimbabwe Human Rights Association (ZimRights) has said that nothing has changed since former President Robert Mugabe vacated office. Mugabe was pushed out of power in November 2017 after the military intervened in ZANU PF’s succession battles. The military placed Mugabe under house arrest and he resigned after Parliament began proceedings to impeach him. President Mnangagwa took over a few days later and has been singing the mantra ‘Zimbabwe is open for business’. However, little has changed for the betterment of ordinary people’s lives. ZimRights director Okay Machiya said > I don’t think there has been any improvement. There has been a number of abuses we did not expect from the new administration epitomised by the August 1 shootings of ordinary citizens. There is nothing to celebrate. > Zimbabweans have not enjoyed the socio-economic and political rights we are guaranteed by the Constitution. We still see the partisan distribution of food. There seem to be much talk and little action around the economy but nothing tangible for Zimbabweans to enjoy. *More: Newsday* _If you found this article useful_ *Please support Pindula by forwarding to friends and groups*
