The new policy is set to regularise the operations of the Zimbabwe Consolidated Diamond Company (ZCDC), a government-owned entity. ZCDC was established in 2015 after the government cancelled licences of miners in the Chiadzwa fields and consolidated all diamond mining concessions under ZCDC. There were seven companies operating in the Chiadzwa diamond fields namely, Marange Resources, Anjin Investments Ltd., Diamond Mining Company, Gyn Nyame Resources, Jinan Mining Ltd., Kusena Diamonds, and Mbada Diamonds.
