Lumumba made claims that he was paid $40 000 in order to pull the RBZ officials through the mud. He made the accusations against the quartet during his short-lived stint as head of a communications taskforce in the finance ministry. Lumumba revealed that he needed the money to send his father to India to seek medical treatment. The four RBZ officials whom Lumumba made allegations against are Mirirai Chiremba, Norman Mataruka, Gresham Muradzikwa and Azvinandaa Saburi. The four officials have since been suspended by the RBZ.
