*Beef Prices Rise Partly Due To Increase In Operational Costs At Abattoirs: CZR President* *Follow Pindula on WhatsApp for daily new updates* https://whatsapp.com/channel/0029Va84dngJP21B2nWeyM3v?iq The price of beef has continued to rise since a sudden hike in prices of goods and services several weeks ago. A kilogram of beef was pegged at between $4 and $8 before the price hikes but have now shot up to between $12 and $18 a kilogram. While the prices of other products have gone down, the price of met has remained high. According to the Confederation Of Zimbabwe Retailers (CZR) president Denford Mutashu, the prevailing economic situation has resulted in an increase in the price of meat. He said > Abattoirs have been increasing charges citing increase in operational costs. We don’t have too much control over the operations. It also depends with where they source the herd for slaughter and the price at which they are currently sourcing, but quite a number of farmers have also increased the price of cattle citing economic challenges so that on its own is an increase on input price.
