*Former Ministers Mzembi, Chidhakwa Face Arrest For Corruption, Abuse of Office* *Follow Pindula on WhatsApp for daily new updates* https://whatsapp.com/channel/0029Va84dngJP21B2nWeyM3v?qm Former cabinet ministers Walter Mzembi and Walter Chidhakwa are reportedly being investigated by the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (Zacc) for offences committed during their time in office. The two are facing allegations of corruption and abuse of office. This comes after the arrest of former Secretary for Higher and Tertiary Education, Science and Technology Development Professor Francis Gudyanga. Gudyanga was arrested for awarding himself $28 000 for board sitting allowances when there was, in fact, no board during the time he was the secretary for the Mines and Mining Development Ministry. Chidhakwa allegedly used his position to get questionable tax exemptions and connived with Gudyanga and allowed him to run a one-man board at the Minerals Marketing Corporation of Zimbabwe (MMCZ). Mzembi is accused of converting government cars to personal ownership as well as giving government contracts to his wife without going through tenders. He also used his powers to offer tax exemption, which he is believed to have arranged with the company in question. The same company was also involved in suspicious projects that involved Chidhakwa. > There are other charges of some dealings that were taking place at the Ministry of Mines, which Chidhakwa needs to answer to. > (In the Dr Mzembi) case, cars were purchased during the United Nations World Tourism Organisation General Assembly but were later converted to personal ownership. There were also contracts that did not go to tender and were given to Mzembi’s wife. More: Sunday Mail _If you found this article useful_ *Please support Pindula by forwarding to friends and groups*
