Zimbabwe got a total of 165 country votes in Electoral group V(a) which had 6 seats to be filled. Zimbabwe would have still gotten a place even if it had the least votes. Other countries in the Group are; Burundi, Equatorial Guinea, Ethiopia, Madagascar and Zambia. The vote took place during the 39th session of the General Conference of UNESCO in Paris.
