*Succession is not a crime to talk about: War vets minister urges Mugabe to groom successor* *Follow Pindula on WhatsApp for daily new updates* https://whatsapp.com/channel/0029Va84dngJP21B2nWeyM3v?or War veterans minister Retired Colonel Tshinga Dube has seemingly broken ranks with Zanu-PF by saying that there is nothing wrong with discussing the issue of succession and by urging President Robert Mugabe to appoint or groom a successor. This follows factional fights in Zanu-PF as people start preparing for life after President Mugabe. Speaking to NewsDay in Bulawayo, Dube said: > We respect our President. He has done so much for this country. He has brought land to the poor, to the people, who never had land, he has brought education to our nation, but they are talking of the future. > There is nothing wrong with talking about the succession. Succession is not a crime to talk about. This happens in every country. All what the war veterans are saying is that he must groom the next leaders so that whatever happens to him, or when he retires there is somebody we know. > War veterans are saying we are very happy with our President. We want him to win the next elections, but eventually, he will decide to retire, when, we don’t know? That is what the war veterans are saying. When they choose some of these people, it’s not because they are tired of our President, they are only misunderstood. There is nothing wrong with aspiring to be the next President.
