*HIT and Nust websites hacked* *Follow Pindula on WhatsApp for daily new updates* https://whatsapp.com/channel/0029Va84dngJP21B2nWeyM3v?ev National University of Science and Technology (Nust) and the Harare Institute of Technology (HIT) were hacked with the hackers demanding a ransom of 1 000 Bitcoins to restore information to their websites. Speaking to The Chronicle, HIT public relations officer Mr Tinashe Mutema confirmed the attack on the institution’s website, while Nust director of Information and publicity Mr Felix Moyo denied any attack but students and lecturers told the publication they could not access the website yesterday. Mutema said that contrary to reports on social media, they had resolved the issue. Said Mutema: ---------- *HOT DEALS:* *itel A70 - (128GB, 3GB RAM) $89,* *itel A70 - (256GB, 4GB RAM) $99* *itel P40 (128GB, 4GB), (6000mAh) $99* *itel P40 (64GB, 4G), (6000mAh) $93* *LATEST: itel S24 (128) $124; S24 (256GB) $159* Cash on Delivery in Harare & Bulawayo. Tinotumira kwamuri inosvika. WhatsApp: 0️⃣7️⃣8️⃣3️⃣ 4️⃣5️⃣0️⃣ 7️⃣9️⃣3️⃣ ---------- > I can confirm that we were attacked yesterday at around 4:30AM. Social media is however blowing the whole matter out of proportion. The attackers hacked into our website. They had temporary control of the servers hosting our website and emails. We pulled our systems from the internet until we managed to sort out the matter today (yesterday). Nust’s Student Representative Council (SRC) tweeted that the website was inaccessible. However, last night the SRC tweeted that the university was back online although other students insisted that they still could not log into the site.
