The number of chickens will depend on the size of the property. HCC wants to introduce the Harare (Public Health) (Amendment) by-laws 2016. The proposed by-laws state that High-density suburbs will be limited to a maximum of 25 chickens. Properties with a range from 300 to 900 square metres will be limited to a maximum of 100 chickens. Properties with a range from 900 to 2000 square metres will be limited to a maximum of 405 chickens. Properties measuring more than 2000 square metres will be limited to a maximum of 800 chickens.
