Mphoko also spoke on the significance of the Chibondo exhumations which recovered at least 750 bodies of victims believed to have been murdered by the Rhodesian government. He also said dateable evidence collected during exhumation at Chibondo, showed that the massacres occurred between 1974 and 1978 which coincides with the intensification of the liberation war.
