*Climate Resilience Officer* *Follow Pindula on WhatsApp for daily new updates* https://whatsapp.com/channel/0029Va84dngJP21B2nWeyM3v?dh *Job Description* The Climate and Resilience Field Officer works closely with the Project Manager to deliver the work plan of the Flood Resilience Measurement for Communities (FRMC) project in Chimanimani in Zimbabwe. The role involves liaison and collaboration with all relevant government offices at the district and ward level, as well as working directly with identified communities. This includes ensuring very good working relationships throughout the duration of the project. The role leads the mobilization of target communities and deliver or facilitate delivery of all the planned training and support to communities as well as the local development agencies. The role is expected to contribute towards generation of evidence and knowledge through collection and submission of specified data and local stories. *Duties and Responsibilities* Work with the climate resilience Project Manager in reviewing and updating the FRMC project work plan and budget. Work closely with all relevant district and ward level stakeholder to ensure that project activities are executed in line with the FRMC project design, with their full support. Maintain updated files with the facts and figures for each assigned Ward. Timely delivery of assigned project activities and good quality progress reports submitted within specified deadlines. Draft and share community level stories of change and participate in the District and Ward planning and development meetings. Provide daily support to the RBCC BHA project in the management of the disaster risk reduction (DRR) portfolio. Support in implementation of RBCC project activities in the district, early warning systems and Disaster risk response strategy in collaboration with the National Civil Protection Unit, District stakeholders and Met department. Facilitate the Community Disability Inclusive emergency plan and implementing response, mitigation and risk reduction plans at ward and village levels Conduct research, collect, and analyse data on the best practices (globally and in the region) in policy, legislation, and institutional arrangements to follow up the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030. The research will enable better implementation of project activities. Assist in other basic research i.e., collecting, analysing, and presenting statistical data and other information gathered from diverse sources. Support the planning, implementation and review of DRR activities as per the Work Plan Collaborate with other stakeholders within the district to undertake DRR research and needs analyses for the implementation of on-going initiatives. Assist in planning, implementation and monitoring and evaluation of other project activities. Collaborate in the development of knowledge and communication products content and design. Assist in the drafting of reports and organisation of meetings. Assist in preparation of various written outputs, e.g. draft background papers, analytical notes, sections of reports and studies, inputs to publications, etc. Assist in administrative and substantive support to meetings and conferences, presentations, handling logistics etc. *Qualifications and Experience* First degree in DRR, climate resilience, or other field related to the role. At least 5 years relevant working experience in the climate resilience field in rural communities in Zimbabwe. Ability to understand the climate resilience development. Ability to engage with rural communities as well as district level stakeholders. A valid license to ride a motor bike. Understanding of the needs of rural livelihoods and markets, working to bring climate resilience to poor and remote communities and the ability to engage constructively with these businesses. Good report writing, oral presentation, and communication skills. Ability to work and communicate virtually. Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks and set priorities. Fluency in English and local language. Commitment to development principles and Practical Action’s vision, mission, values and climate resilience change ambition.
