ZANU PF says more than three million people voted in its primary elections held recently.

There are about six million registered voters in Zimbabwe and ZANU PF is targeting to garner up to five million votes in general elections set to be held later this year.

Speaking to The Sunday Mail, ZANU PF director of information and publicity Cde Tafadzwa Mugwadi said:

> From the preliminary indications, we can safely say that three million people voted in the primary elections.

> We are going to release the final figures soon. However, our preliminary observations show that the number of voters who participated was above three million.

In some constituencies, the ZANU PF primary elections were marred by violence and re-runs are set to be held in Zvimba West, Gokwe-Nembudziya, Mbare, Insiza South and Churu.
