The City of Harare has resumed water production two days after shutting down its water treatment plants citing a shortage of Aluminium Sulphate.

On Friday, 10 February, Harare City Council suspended water production due to “critically low stocks of aluminium sulphate” which affected all parts of the city.

In a notice issued this Sunday, the local authority said it had received some aluminium sulphate from its supplier and had started treating water and pumping water. Reads the notice:

> We would like to notify the public that we have received some aluminium sulphate from our supplier and have started treating water and pumping water.

> The water however remains low with one pump coming to Warren Control and channelled to Letombo. The other medium pump is going to the western suburbs.

> We urge members of the public to use available water sparingly and be patient while Council addresses the water chemicals situation.
