Over 154 Zimbabwean teachers arrived in Rwanda on 19 October 2022 and are set to share knowledge and skills with Rwandan educators and students. We will be with the teachers for a two-year period and will discuss whether to extend it or not. Irere also said that in the first three months, the Government of Rwanda will provide rent for the teachers and after that period, they will opt to stay at their respective residences or move somewhere else. The teachers were recruited by Rwanda’s Ministry of Education (MINEDUC)and will start working by 22 October. They will be deployed in Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs), TVET schools with rare skills requirements, and three Integrated Polytechnic Regional Centres (IPRCs) while some will teach at the University of Rwanda – College of Medicine and Health Sciences (UR-CMHS).
